Fury Road is AMAZING and loud and ridiculous and real and clever and ugly and beautiful and scary and inspiring and violent and sweet and I want to see it again but not in 3D because that's just too much flinching (there's a lot of shrapnel to dodge).
Homework is blaaaaaaaaaaaah and the coming thunderstorms just banged on my head like a gong, so we're not getting any more of that done tonight. Yesterday was a total write-off, brainwise; I slept for 12 hours and woke up in the afternoon with a headache that only got worse. All in all a very productive weekend :P
I am nowhere near as good at this game as
thatyourefuse is, but anyway.

Give me a character and I'll tell you three things that I believe about their sexuality/sex life/experience.

And yes, about Splendid. Fuck yeah! I mean, if we want to be totally strict about it, she was technically using that not-yet-born, possibly-perfect-in-every-way kid as a human shield, 'cause girl knows what her enemies value, but it was inside her body, so yes, yes this.

I am totally buying that DVD. <3

1. Much more attracted to women than to men. (Significant not!exceptions: Mina's fiance, because that wasn't about him at all; Dorian, because he is pretty and possibly some sort of incubus; Sir Malcolm, because that is just a whole 'nother ball of wax.)
2. Has banged many more men than women, largely out of expedience because it's so much easier for her to just grab men off the street--and that's exactly all it is. Emotional connection isn't even a risk. On some level she regards the men she actually cares about as a completely separate category.
3. The moment captured in your icon? SO. TURNED. ON.

Large amounts of general squee going on over here. I'm totally buying that DVD when it eventually comes out. :-D
Tell me about Furiosa, since she's fairly fresh in your brain. :-)

That's just fact.

(I'm minded of Seanan McGuire and how Toby - and all of her other chick characters - are emphatically not rape survivors and... How strange that is to me, given Toby's history as a street kid and given Devon's tendency to, um, exercise droit de signeur, so to speak, on the people he lieges over at Home...) I don't think Furiosa ever came right out and said "rape survivor" but... given the societal structure of where she was taken? She doesn't have to.
I'm amazed she got to be driver.
I would love to know how she swung that one. How she got herself so high up the warboy chain (or whatever you might call it), in spite of running away so many times, to be an Impirator.
Re: #2: That's the impression I got, too, though I have no idea why. (Also, honestly? I kind of love that the lesbian biker grannies were all "Of course we can bring boys with us. They're *family*." I like their kindness, and the flexibility of their sense of "us").
Re: #3: Thank all the gods for that. Seriously. And about the "sister" thing. Yeah, like that.
I wonder how cuddly she'd be, or could let herself be, if her life had played out differently or - given her life - after she's had time to heal and start believing in safety again. I mean, she clearly still believes in trust - is capable of being trustworthy, is capable of trusting someone in a very short time (albeit under pretty heavy circumstances). I could see her curled up with Valkyrie, being Big Spoon, and a little part of her lizard brain going Home, HOME... and relaxing just a little bit more every time the chance arose.
I like how much, and how deeply (as in "ingrained" and "under the skin") they value Being Able To Make Choices. For some very, VERY obvious reasons, clearly.
Like that bit at the very end, where she just kind of gives him that nod like "Yeah, I get why you're choosing this" without there being even a hint of "Why aren't you choosing us" OR "This choice is final". I get the impression that if he happened to stop by at some point in the future, he'd be welcome.
