Internet at my apartment has been down since Monday and will not be back up (technically reinstalled) until sometime late next week (but that's possibly sooner than the windstick TekSavyy is mailing to tide us over until that happens will arrive--this is not a knock against TekSavvy, I'm very pleased with them as service providers and would be even if they weren't waiving half the installation fee for the new connection).

Have been rewatching Game of Thrones episode commentaries on dvd in interim and am now clawing at my monitor in anticipation of season 5.

There are half-scale german shepherd weathervane things that I assume are goose repellants all over campus. I have seriously considered nicking one.

I came here to mooch internet so I could do homework and job applications but my head is killing me so nope.

Three weeks left in the second of three terms. When I graduate I want to work for the Iron Bank of Braavos, send debt collectors after Lannisters and slap Mark Gatiss.
Tomorrow is, to quote my father, "one of those millstone birthdays". I might wear a pretty dress because I can.

I am more than halfway through this school program. The actual accounting courses (and other math-based stuff like stats) continue to be alarmingly easy. Business Communications is mostly group work so I kinda hate it even though all the actual people I have grouped with seem adequately lovely.

A couple of weeks ago I interviewed for a bookkeeper position at The Public (an activist design studio). Didn't get it, but they're a neat little company so I link them.

Texts from Mass Effect characters. The ones I find funny are side-splitting. Also still hilarious and hilariously relevant to current fandom pursuits, Erotica Written by an Alien Pretending Not to Be Horrified by the Human Body (I'm a nerd: this alien is more familiar with Terran vertebrates other than humans than I would expect).

I want more tattoos. And to not feel so clumsy walking in heels.

Erika Lust should be president of the world.

P.S. Everything was just a mess.
Here is a thing wot I have made in celebration of this joyous and probably heart-wrenching day: Duped, a shiny new knitting pattern for a shallow shawl-scarf with slipped stitches, short row shaping, and a serrated lace knit-on edging, inspired by the contemplation of sameness and difference in the science fiction drama series Orphan Black, as well as by the jagged-edged personality of protagonist Sarah Manning (actually it was inspired by Siobhan Sadler, aka Mrs. S., and the family dynamics between her and Sarah and Felix and developed through brought-to-you-by-the-letter-S brainstorming, but the other thing makes better copy). The pattern requires approximately 400yds of worsted weight yarn and costs $5.00 CAD, but from now until midnight April 26 you can use the code "cloneclub" to get it for $2.50.

If you want one but you do not knit I could probably be bribed to make you one--though if you want it in the official Orphan Black colourway I used for the prototype you have to tell me before April 30th because that's the very last day that yarn will ever be available.
[livejournal.com profile] stainofmylove started this "Holiday wishlist meme" thing a few years ago (rules below, but basically you post a list of stuff, fannish, abstract, or material, that you want, and grant each other's wishes if you can) and I think it is pretty great, so I am going to do my best to participate and hope that some of you lovely folks on Dreamwidth will get into it too. I'm not sure why this has to be a "holiday"-specific thing, myself, but it does work better if everybody's playing at once, even though there are really no time limits, so I guess this arbitrarily selected season is as good as any. (SoML's list, btw, is here.)

Disagreement on exactly when, where, and from what sort of critter anthropoids originated may have opened a rift between them, but whenever he thinks back to those long nights by a crackling campfire under the open Wyoming sky . . . Chris Beard wishes he knew how to quit Elwyn Simons.

It's probably a good thing there's not a lot of palaeontologist slash out there (I hope--truly, I dare not investigate!), it breaks my brain just thinking about it. Or maybe it's just the freaky Rorschach thing segmenting all these CT slides is doing to my subconscious. *shudder*.
